Boeuf Offers Prime Irish Steaks French Style
Being a fussy eater, leaves you faced with a limited choice in certain restaurants. Menus quickly scanned as you search for the chicken and steak dishes. With steak being the main course you probably go for in the end. Of course you can’t go wrong with the steak cooked how you like it, especially with your favourite sauce. For me personally, I like my steak cooked medium well to well done with pepper sauce to accompany it.
This week’s restaurant is?
By now you will have gathered that I won’t be talking about steak unless I am reviewing steak this week. This week I had a grá for a steak as I have not had one in a while. So I opened up the Just Eat and the Deliveroo app’s and went searching for a steak. Not wanting to pay over the odds for a takeaway, resulted in my search not providing instant results. I had no joy on Just Eat and after awhile looking on Deliveroo I ended up putting Bono to shame. I had found what I was looking for, Boeuf, a steak house on South William St.
Offering premium Irish steaks with French bravado, Boeuf opened its doors back in October 2018. It’s a restaurant that I and countless others will have passed by many times. When a restaurant sticks to doing one thing, they generally do that one thing well and I was hoping Boeuf would be no exception.
What did I order?
Opening up the Deliveroo on my phone I quickly came to Boeuf. Their menu has 4 starters, alongside 5 different types of steak and 3 burgers and sandwiches They also have 10 sides and 7 sauces too. A steak was just what the doctor order and all I needed. Looking at the 5 different options, one was soon discounted. There was no way I was getting the 17oz Boeuf Tasting Plate for Two, which left me with 4 choices, that soon whittled down to one.
Leaving me with the 7oz Aged Fillet Mignon, the best meat cut available. What happened next was not what I expected but very pleasant. Upon ordering my steak. Up popped a choice of sides and sauce at no extra cost. The side I went with Shoestring Chips accompanied with Brandy Peppercorn Sauce. I should also add that I asked for my fillet to be cooked medium well to well done.
How was my Meal?
It arrived well packaged as you can see below and there was no way the sauce could leak.
However there was one thing that I found interesting. The bag my food came in was stapled shut, guaranteeing its contents were untouched. But the bag was a Gloria Jeans Coffee bag which is not what I expected.
You will notice on the packaging surrounding my steak, the sticker below which shows you how your steak was cooked.
My 7oz Aged Fillet Mignon was perfect, cooked to my liking and had some nice juicy flavours. It was also very tender, making it very easy to cut.
I always love a steak with peppercorn sauce and the accompanying Brandy Peppercorn Sauce was wonderful. It had a nice bite and kick to it just like a peppercorn sauce should.
The Shoestring Chips were perfect to me as they were nice and thin. Most importantly, they did not look or taste greasy making me glad I chose them.
If you are a steak lover, I can highly recommend Boeuf as my steak was fantastic and I will be definitely ordering from them again.
What did my meal cost?
My 7oz Aged Fillet Mignon with sauce and a side cost €19.50. With a service fee of €0.49, and a delivery fee of €2.99. The final bill came to €24.98 including Rider Tip.
Boeuf, 63 South William Street, Dublin 2
