Is this Dublins best carvery?
Well, what a bad couple of weeks that was and I hope storm Eowyn did not inconvenience you. Your pantries must be overstocked with bread, milk and possibly beer and or wine. I noticed certain parts of North Dublin had supermarkets with no bread and very little milk. The meme below describes it best.

A friend of mine noted that the bread truck took the picture. Another storm has come and gone and thankfully it wasn’t as bad. Now, that the weather is out of the way let’s get on with this week’s review. On these cold weeks, one of the best things you can have is comfort food. That’s food that warms you up inside and also makes you happy.
One of the best comfort foods that you can get in Ireland is a carvery in a pub or hotel. This naturally needs to the age old question, where is the best carvery? We all have our favourite places to get a carvery, and I think I have found the best carvery in Dublin. A carvery that offers you a few choices and also offers you extras that you don’t see offered elsewhere.
This week’s restaurant is?
As you can see in the video above I was in the Portobello area of Dublin to grab a carvery lunch. The pub I was in is the Portobello Bar, a venue I had not been in for ages. Last November, I happened to pop in for a drink and I noticed that they have a carvery at lunch time. So, naturally I had to pop back for a carvery, and I did this on three separate occasions. Funnily enough after my first visit, the Portobello’s Instagram account started following my Instagram account.

As you can see the pub was spacious with lots of tables to sit at. I liked how the tables were not crammed together forcing you to sit too near to other customers. There is nothing better than having a nice bit of space when you are having a carvery. If you are with someone else, the space also allows earwigging not to take place.
What did I order?

Well, as you can see from the menu above there was a variety of different meals to choose from. I went for the old reliable Roast Beef with potatoes done two ways, chips and mash. Covered in gravy with something you rarely find at a carvery these days, Yorkshire Pudding. To wash it down I had a regular coke.
How was my meal?

My Roast Beef as you can see above was cooked perfectly, it was not tough and it tasted oh so good. The mash potatoes was very creamy with no lumps in them. There is nothing worse than lumpy mash potatoes. The chips fresh, crispy, not greasy and tasted how proper chips should taste like. As for the gravy it superbly matched the Roast Beef and was the perfect accompaniment. My favourite part of the meal was the Yorkshire Pudding. Which as I said before is something you rarely get at a carvery these days. It was light and fluffy like a good Yorkshire Pudding should be, and dripping with gravy it was phenomenal.
What did the meal cost?
My Roast Beef cost €14.95 and my coke cost €3.50. My final bill came to €18.45.
The Portobello offers the best carvery that I have ever had in Dublin. On my second visit here, I was with one of my college friends who has accompanied me on previous reviews. He loved his main meal as well as stunning cheesecake that he had for desert. I should also add for those of you who are trying to eat less, you can get a half portion for €10.95
